Warner Bros has released the first trailer for Tomb Raider. Actress Alicia Vikander is ready to step into Angelina Jolie’s shoes and play Lara Croft, 15 years after Jolie’s last Tomb Raider movie was released.
“Your father’s gone. You can pick up where he left off,” Vikander’s character is told early in the trailer. “I see so much of him in you.”
Following a shipwreck, Croft ends up in enemy territory. “You shouldn’t have come here,” Walton Goggins’ character tells her. “But I’m glad that you did.”
The trailer shows that the film is following the same track; opening with Lara returning home, to discover that her father has died. Before his death, he left behind a video message – he discovered a tomb called the Mother of Death. She has to get to it before a organization called Trinity opens it, because the fate of the world could be at stake.
Vikander won an Academy Award for her supporting role in the movie “The Danish Girl”. Alicia is also known for her performances in “Ex Machina,” “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” and 2016’s “Jason Bourne”.
Daniel Wu and Dominic West will star alongside Vikander in the new movie, which will hit the screens on March 16, 2018.
