Apparently, drinking two glasses of red wine before bed can help you lose weight. According to two recent studies from Washington State University and Harvard Medical School.

Basically, red wine contains a polyphenol (a type of micronutrient) in it called resveratrol. Resveratrol does this awesome thing that transforms ‘white fat’ into ‘beige fat’, which is far easier to burn off.

Even crazier, the Harvard study, which looked at 20,000 women over the course of 13 years, determined that those who drank two glasses of wine daily were 70 percent less likely to be overweight.

So what’s the significance of night wine? Another study found that resveratrol also helps suppress your appetite, which, in turn, aided in weight loss.

So while this news may tempt you to keep a bottle of red on your nightstand, not so fast—doctors are typically wary of recommending that people start drinking wine, since too much alcohol can obviously have harmful effects on the body.

Other major sources of resveratrol include blueberries, strawberries and grapes.
